What is an Epicurean Adventure Ride?

 

* Epicurean adj. 1. devoted to the sensual pleasures, esp. food and drink 2. of or relating to the philosophy of Epicurus (341 - 270 B.C.), Greek Philosopher, who held that the highest good is pleasure or freedom from pain.

Epicurean Rides are similar to an Adventure Ride but with some differences. Saturday lunch is an occasion to dress up. You are required to wear a collar and tie or similar for your delicious gourmet-style Epicurean lunch. Saturday night dinner has a theme, these are different at each event. Great prizes are awarded for ‘best dressed’! The focus is toward having a good time, with enjoyable company, fine food and wine – mustn’t forget the great riding as well.

Epicurean Rides are not advertised and are by invitation only.
They are a speciality type adventure ride, as well as getting in some great riding, an Epicurean ride is a great chance to socialise and catch up with adventure riding friends from all over the country.

How many Epicurean Rides have been held in the past?
The concept was devised by well-known adventure rider John Forsyth. John organised the first event at Waitomo in 1994.
