Over the years their Balinese acquaintances - street stall sellers, massage women on the beach, owners and staff of small hotels they have stayed at - have become friends. Bali's friendly, gentle Hindu people, its idyllic climate, beaches, jungle, and rice paddies, small villages, the narrow scenic roads, great food and culture, all combine to make a journey around Bali a trip to remember. Bali remains a gentle and intensely spiritual place despite the rampant effects of Western tourism over the past 20 years.

Mike and Angela had first visited Vietnam in 1997. Captured by friendliness and helpfulness of the Vietnamese people, despite their tempestuous history, and at how safe they felt, they decided in 2002 to add Vietnam to their overseas tour destinations. After a couple of reconnaissance trips, in 2004 the inaugural Venture Into Vietnam Tour took place.
